Fastbrick Robotics Signs Strategic Collaboration Agreement with GP Vivienda

Robotic technology company Fastbrick Robotics Limited announced that it has entered into a Strategic Collaboration Agreement (‘SCA’) with GP Vivienda to discuss potential pilot testing programs for FBR’s Hadrian X construction robots in Mexico, as well as opportunities for future applications of FBR’s core Dynamic Stabilisation Technology (‘DST’).

As the housing division of Grupo GP, one of Mexico’s largest construction companies, GP Vivienda has built over 70,000 homes in communities across Mexico. In their master-planned communities, GP Vivienda also builds schools, community centers, parks with playgrounds and commercial areas to ensure sustainability and quality of life for the residents.

The SCA between FBR and GP Vivienda extends for two years, and in addition to the above contemplates commercial, corporate and investment opportunities, knowledge sharing, mutual business development opportunities, and joint technology or business process development opportunities.

Commenting on the SCA with GP Vivienda, CEO Mike Pivac said: “The Hadrian X presents a solution to Mexico’s acute shortage of well-constructed affordable homes, with access to the necessary services like schools, parks and commercial areas. GP Vivienda is an ideal partner for FBR in Mexico, as they have shown they are adaptable and willing to embrace disruptive technology, and have sufficient scale to offer an excellent proving ground for the Hadrian X and future DST applications in North America.”

GP Vivienda Project Developer Andrés Garza said: “We are excited to commence our collaboration with FBR, and to introduce their disruptive digital construction technologies into Mexico. It will allow us to further drive the affordable housing industry in the region through state-of-the-art digital precision. This collaboration with FBR is the next step in Grupo GP’s long and proud history of innovation within construction – an important step that will allow us to push the boundaries and set the pace for Mexico’s construction industry of tomorrow.”

Further supporting the SCA, and as contemplated in the Global Market Study announcement made to the ASX on 26 April 2018, detailed analysis of FBR’s targeted Hadrian X launch markets has been prepared in cooperation with the Company’s global strategic business advisor, EY-Parthenon.

The analysis of the Mexican market for the Hadrian X indicates a theoretical need for approximately 700- 750 Hadrian X construction robots to replace all bricklaying labour in Mexico in 2018. The majority of construction in Mexico is low-rise and almost entirely made up of brick and block construction. Three-storey affordable housing is the most popular format of residential construction in Mexico, but there is curently a large deficit in affordable housing of approximately 8.3 million homes presenting a major social issue in Mexico that the Hadrian X could assist with.

Further, given the frequency of extreme weather events and earthquakes in Mexico, the Hadrian X can assist in providing reliable, timely and cost-effective post-disaster construction.

Assembly of the Hadrian X was completed and announced to the ASX on 7 June 2018 and the Company has now commenced mechanical testing and commissioning of the Hadrian X. Testing of the DST™ and Factory Acceptance Testing to occur in Q3 CY18.
